Privacy

Family Tasks does not collect, transmit or store any personal information about you. There is no Family Tasks account and no Family Tasks server. Your chores live on a calendar server that you choose and control, and the app talks only to that server.
The short version
- We receive nothing. No analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no usage statistics, no device identifiers.
- Your data goes only where you point it — your calendar server, and your email server if you set one up.
- One permission: internet access.
- Passwords never leave the device except to sign in to the servers you configured.
What the app stores on your device
These are kept in Android's encrypted preferences, protected by the device keystore, and are removed when the app is uninstalled or its data is cleared:

What the app stores on your calendar
Everything else lives in the calendar you chose, so that several tablets in the same household stay in step:
- Tasks, as ordinary calendar events, along with who they are assigned to, which icon they use, any notes you added, and whether an occurrence is done.
- Household settings in a single hidden calendar entry: the names and colours of the people you added, the monthly goal, and whether the summary email is switched on.
- The parent PIN, stored only as a salted hash — never as the PIN itself. A pending reset code is stored the same way, and is deleted once used.
Anyone with access to that calendar account can read this, exactly as they could read the calendar itself. Who that is, is entirely up to you.
Network connections
The app makes connections to two places, both of which you specify:
- Your calendar server, over HTTPS, to read and update tasks.
- Your email server, over an encrypted SMTP connection, and only if you have filled in those settings. It is used to send a PIN reset code or the monthly summary to the address you nominate.
The app contacts no other host. It contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs and no third-party services of any kind.
Permissions
The app requests a single Android permission, internet access, which it needs to reach your calendar. It does not ask for contacts, location, storage, the camera, the microphone or your accounts.
Children
This app is meant to be used by children in a family home, so it is worth being explicit: the app does not collect anything about anyone, children included. The names and colours you enter are whatever you choose to type, they are stored on your own calendar, and they are never sent to us or to anyone else.
The parent PIN is a lock against casual tampering — it stops a child editing or deleting chores while leaving them free to tick chores off. It is not a security boundary: the device necessarily holds the calendar password, so anyone determined enough could get around it. It is intended for a family home, not for protecting anything sensitive.
This website
This site is made of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no scripts, and loads no fonts, images or resources from anyone else, so visiting it does not tell any third party that you were here. Your web host may keep ordinary server logs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
